Digital Livestock Market: Online Cattle Haat in Madaripur

In July 2021, ACT Foundation partnered with the Madaripur District Administration to launch an innovative platform named “PoshuHaat .com”, a digital cattle‑market designed to serve the local community during the changing times of the pandemic. Recognising the challenges posed by the COVID‑19 era and the need for safe, accessible livestock trade, ACT Foundation stepped in to adapt technology for community support.

The platform allows both buyers and sellers from the four sub‑districts of Madaripur—Sadar, Rajbari, Kalkini and Shibchar—to participate from home. Sellers enter detailed information on their animals, and buyers can browse through listings via the web portal. The District Commissioner inaugurated the initiative on 13 July 2021, signalling a new‑age approach to traditional livestock markets.

ACT Foundation’s role went beyond providing the technology. As a strategic partner, they worked to ensure transparency, ease of access, and safety for all participants. Their goal was to make the livestock trade smoother, safer and more inclusive—especially for those who were unable to access crowded markets or who needed a more reliable platform during a public‑health crisis.

By introducing this digital haat, ACT Foundation not only addressed trading constraints but also reinforced their broader commitment to community resilience, economic inclusion, and innovation in rural areas. The initiative reflects how the Foundation leverages digital solutions to meet local needs, supporting livelihoods and strengthening local markets
